
Kazakhstan Promotion Day was organised by BTU Turkish World Community students. In the programme where the cultural richness of the country was exhibited, Kazakhstan traditions and customs were explained with demonstrations, while local dances and delicacies were presented to the participants.
Bursa Technical University (BTU), which hosts international students from many countries of the world, organised a country introduction day on the 33rd anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence. The programme, organised by BTU Turkish World Community students, was held in partnership with Kazakhstan Consulate, BTU Foreign Relations Office and İpekyolu International Student Association. Rector of BTU Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Beyhan Bayhan, Kazakhstan Istanbul Consul Almas Yeşankulov, representatives of NGOs and students attended the programme held at Mimar Sinan Campus Turquoise Hall. Speaking at the opening of the programme, Rector Naci Çağlar thanked the organisers of the event and said: ‘There are around 350 thousand international students in Turkey, of which nearly 16 thousand are Kazakhstan students. The number of international students is expected to reach 500 thousand in 2035. At our university, we host 1634 students from 96 different countries. We see our international students as guests from our own heartland. Once again, I would like to express my pleasure to welcome you in our country and at our university.’
Ambassadors of Cultural Exchange Almas Yeşankulov, Consul of Kazakhstan in Istanbul, thanked Rector Naci Çağlar for the event and expressed his gratitude for hosting the students so well. Ebubekir Armağan, President of İpekyolu International Student Association, stated that there are many students from the Turkic world and Kazakhstan in Turkey and said: ‘One of the most important contributions of international students to the countries they go to is the cultural exchange. The events organised at our university today are very helpful for us to establish sustainable relations with the countries we meet in the same civilisation.’
Values of Kazakh Culture were exhibited
After the opening speeches, the history of Kazakhstan was told and the traditions and customs of the country were exhibited with a mini show. In the programme, which also included a Kazakhstan music concert, the flavours of the country were served to the participants.
