Graduation Excitement at BTU TOMER

Bursa Technical University TOMER organised a graduation ceremony for the students who completed the Turkish preparatory class. 19 students from 13 different countries of the world received their certificates and were entitled to transfer to undergraduate programmes.

BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, Secretary General Selim Uzun, academicians, students and their families attended the graduation ceremony of Turkish Application and Research Centre (TOMER) held at Mimar Sinan Campus Block B Turquoise Hall. Speaking at the opening of the ceremony, Rector Naci Çağlar congratulated the students who successfully completed the Turkish preparatory class language education. Rector Çağlar said, ‘We host 1646 international students from 94 different countries at our university. In line with our internationalisation goal, we aim to have a wider recognition in the world and to make our university followed on a global scale. In achieving this goal, it is extremely important for you, our valuable cultural ambassadors, to promote our university in your own countries. I am happy that we are all on this journey together and I wish success to each of you in your education life. I would like to thank all our academicians working at TOMER for their devoted work.’

TOMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Nurullah Cicioğlu stated that while teaching Turkish language to international students, they also explain Turkish culture and values.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cicioğlu stated that the students who successfully completed the Turkish preparatory class language education will receive education in their departments starting from next year and congratulated the graduating students.

After the speeches, the students performed traditional dances of their own countries with examples from Turkish culture, recited poems and sang songs. Karagöz-Hacıvat show, Aşık Veysel folk song and Barış Manço songs performed by the students received a lot of applause from the audience. The ceremony ended with a group photo shoot after the presentation of certificates. After the ceremony, the country stands set up in the B-Block foyer area were visited.
